Eagle Project Service Hours at VFW on Sunday

Posted by mstone on Mar 23 2022 - 5:42pm

Hey troop 4443,

I am hosting my first Eagle project workday at the VFW Post 4443 on Sunday, March 27 from 1 to 5 pm. The exact address is 7614 Thomas Springs Road, Austin, Texas 78736. The plan is to shovel out weeds on the playground and to put swings onto the swing structure. Afterwards, the VFW wants volunteers to take nails out of wood (2x4, 2x6, etc. that they are repurposing) in their garage. This activity may go over my scheduled time, but it will still count as service hours if scouts would like more. Plan to bring working gloves and a big shovel (and safety glasses if you want them) for my project. They are monster weeds entangled in river rocks, so a big shovel is important. If you plan to help the VFW afterwards, bring a crowbar and/or hammer with an end to take out nails and safety glasses. We will be providing snacks and water that will be readily available throughout the day. Send me an email if you can make it on Sunday and will have a shovel to use. I will let you know when my second workday is when I have a specific date.

Hi All! Couple of updates ....

1 - Adult registration (this is about money, so important!) - If you are involved in two troops, you are 'Primary' with one and 'multiple' with the others. The troop that you are 'Primary' with is the one who you pay your registration with - so don't pay the BSA fee with more than one troop!
